Disabilities

In the United States, one in four adults live with some kind of disability. This is seen as someone who has difficulty walking, seeing, hearing, doing everyday activities alone, or even making decisions. Physical activity is needed for everyone, but less than half of the individuals with disabilities are active. Individuals with disabilities are more likely to have some kind of chronic disease than someone without, but physical activity can help reduce this risk. Physical activity for someone with a disability can take many different forms such as adaptive sports if they are in a wheelchair, aquatic therapy, swimming laps and many more! (Be sure to consult a primary care provider for suggestions and before attempting significant amounts of physical activity)
