Start a Walking Group
For those of you wanting to start a family, neighborhood, school, or workplace walking group, we are here to help!! Studies have shown that walking in a group helps to increase your commitment to your new fitness program. We recommend that you and your group find a mutually agreeable goal to work towards. Here are a few of the goals that have worked well for our groups:
- group walk at lunchtime 3x/week for three months
- A walk around your neighborhood nearly every evening for three months
- Meet at the Rose Bowl for a lap or two every Saturday morning
- Group members use their pedometers to track 750,000 or 1,000,000 steps each
- Count total miles for a mileage count of 100 miles per person
- Depending upon the number of group members, find a reasonable mileage destination: San Diego, San Francisco, New York, Paris, The Moon . . .
